Disputing Debt settlement/consolidation company charges?

Has any ever, or know if you can, dispute charges made by a debt consolidation or debt settlement company. they refuse to refund my money because I signed a contract, even though they did not perform the services in which I was paying for. ANY HELP HELPS!!!!!

You may have thought you knew what you were paying for, but the companies charge for what is in the contract, and those contracts are carefully written to avoid actually promising to do anything.

How could you sign up with one of these companies with all the warnings on this site?

I guess you should be glad you only got ripped off. Many people get ripped off AND have their problem credit totally trashed.

I’m sorry that this happend to you. Just figure it’s a lesson learned and start writing your own letters to your creditors.

Chad, unfortunately Bob is right. These companies are scams, and it is going to be difficult to recover your money.

This won’t get you very far, but file a complaint with your local attorney general’s office. These companies are regulated in most states, and they may be able to help, if there are some obviously issues with your case.
