mortgage fraud

At the beginning of February I had several checks stolen from my mailbox and cashed fraudulently. I was told both by companies who issued the checks that I would need to fill out a fraud packet, have it notarized and sent back before they could reissue the funds. One of the checks was an escrow refund and my mortgage company told me they would mail me a copy of the check and a fraud packet at the beginning of March. I have made 5 phone calls since then and I keep getting transferred from person to person, each call ending with a promise that I would receive the packet within XX many days. I am at the end of my rope and have spent hours on the phone with customer service just trying to get them to mail me the fraud papers. Is there any government agency I can contact with this problem or another avenue I can take to prompt the mortgage company to actually do what they say short of hiring an attorney?

can i sue mortgage lender for fraud?

mortgage fraud

We closed our homeloan on a home we built 3 months ago and final appraisal was$245,000 which is what it needed to be around for approval since we were borrowing $190,000. we already owned the land prior to building. After closing we went to refinance with a different company who approved us at the lower rate only one thing was wrong…the appraisal came in at $160,000. Needless to say we were shocked since apparently our home depreciated $85,000 in 3 months!! after reviewing original appraisal we found many misrepresentations of supposed home values used for comparisons, as well as an inflated value of our land already owned and when I contacted lender they said that agent was fired for questionable practices and that was that. Soon after they sold my loan to another company which was also shocking since this bank bragged about how they dont sell their loans off. can i sue for this or what? what type of lawyer? Any help would be great

I have secured loan with First Plus?

secured loan problem

…..but their customer service is a disgrace

(1) Its variable rate of APR, which I accept, but WHY NOT REDUCE THE RATE WHEN THE BASE RATE GOES DOWN ?

(2) Had had an emergency that cost me £500 so I asked for a payment holiday to get back on my feet. They refused, but the person on the phone said “You need to pay or you will receive a re-posession order”

I accept that I am responsible for the majority of my debts because of previous problems. but why don’t these creditors help us out more ? With the Global Credit Crisis , surly its in their best inerests too, to help people to preven their COMPANIES from going down.
To respond to some of the answers already given.

(1) This loan was taken out after a relationship break up, and I am not complaining about the fact that is variable rate, I am simply pointing out that when rates go down, the cost goes down, as is the case with a Mortgage.

(2) I agree that it is too easy to get credit, but what I object to is the rudness that they used on the phone. I am still a “customer” and have right to customer service. Having debts does not make a person any less deserving of proper customer service.

(3) When my car developed a mechanical fault that was quoted at £1600, id imagine that very few people would have that kind of money tucked away.

(4) My lodger lost her job and was unable to pay rent…again, a situation out of my control, so please don’t judge me.
I do accept resposnibility for my debts but a number of UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES are what prompted me to call 1st choice.
All those of you who seem to be judging me, I only hope you never go through any difficulties outwith your own control.

student loan deal

Hi. I am in the process of buying a home. The seller is calling me and my mortgage broker 2-3 times a day asking for a closing date. My broker just told me that the only final condition is the payment history on my student loans. I just got out of school and consolidated my loans and put them in deferrment. They are including the payment in my monthly debt even though my 1st payment on the student loans isn’t until Dec. 06. Therefore, there is no payment history. My broker said Underwriting was using that as my payment history as I don’t have any other credit card debt. My car was paid off 1 1/2 yrs ago. Will this make my loan fall apart? Is there anything I can do to speed up the loan so the seller will back off? The house is a REALLY good deal! Help. Experienced answerers only. Thanks!

cheap loans

I keep hearing from people who’ve chosen cheaper alternatives for college (such as state schools or schools that meet their full financial need) that school loans are the devil and to take out as few as possible. This may very well be true, but can I hear it from someone who’s actually paying off these loans? Was your educational experience worth the debt?

Thanks!

cheap loans

Currently going to school online. I have over 12,000 in loans if I transfer to cheaper school will the current online school give the money back and I need to reapply again. How does this work? Really need to find a cheaper school here, going broke.

debt consolidation company

Will they actually consolidate all of my credit cards and personal loan or will they just try to get a decrease in the APR? Can anyone help me with this? I was given this as an alternative to filing for bankruptcy and would like some more info from anyone who has been there and done that…thank you.

mortgage fraud

There’s been a lot of people asking about how the presidential candidates are going to keep people from losing their homes.
The story below is one of MANY in which borrowers falsified documents in order to obtain loans.

Please read it, then tell me why tax paying citizens should bear the burden for these bad loans?
Thanks.

“Robert Green had pleaded guilty in April to federal felony charges stemming from a scheme in which he prepared false tax returns attached to fraudulent home loan applications from as early as 2001

Before word of his guilty plea surfaced in December, Green had been championed by actor Brad Pitt to be among the first to receive a home through Pitt’s Make It Right program.”
